4 Ways To Support Yourself While Healing Through Trauma

Healing is a tough job. You must spend many sweat equity hours doing the work of going deep within yourself and being honest about who and what you really are. In order to stay focused on the work ahead, having ways to support yourself are paramount. Here’s 4 ways to support yourself while healing (plus a bonus)

1. Connect with supportive people and build positive relationships. Your inner circle is the group you’re most likely to pick up habits from. Remember that. Have healthy, nourishing relationships all around you. People that encourage and cheerlead for you when you need it.

2. Reach out for help and guidance from a mental health professional. There are soooo many forms mental health professionals come in. Music therapists, certified peer specialists, social worker, you name it, it might just exist. Nothing wrong with help from every angle!

3. Develop calming techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and mindfulness practices. This goes such a long way. Learning proper breathing techniques will assist you with every day breathing. Even possibly regulating blood pressure(“Slow, deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system which decreases the heart rate and dilates blood vessels, reducing your overall blood pressure.” https://vitalheartandvein.com/blog/breathing-techniques-lower-blood-pressure/)

4. Take time for yourself to relax and recharge. You need it to renew and revive your energy. You’re worth all the time and rejuvenation you want & need

Reading comments online

Be mindful of absorbing others opinions/beliefs. Sometimes it’s great to go inside and get other perspectives but when there’s nothing constructive or healthy happening in those comments, get out for your peace. Others opinions won’t do a thing for your life.
